BS 7671:2018+A1 (Amendment 1)

Status

Amendment 1 to BS 7671:2018 was published in February 2020 as a standalone amendment covering Section 722, Electric Vehicle Charging Installations. Its best-known change is the revision of Regulation 722.411.4.1, which replaced the old "not reasonably practicable" PME exception with explicit permitted arrangements, including an open-PEN protective device and a voltage-monitoring device operating between 207 V and 253 V. It was absorbed into Amendment 2 in March 2022.

What Changed

Amendment 1 was a minor update consisting primarily of technical corrections and clarifications to the 18th Edition text. It did not introduce major new sections or requirements but addressed errors, ambiguities, and inconsistencies identified since the initial publication of BS 7671:2018.
